Can’t wait to watch this film… This film is about the life of an exceptional Indian bengali filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak. His films are influential piece of art and has inspired many alternate filmmakers in India & around the world. I always found his work as a metaphoric mix of visual & aural elements with starkly realistic story lines. Unfortunately he did not lead a usual life and his insanity in life added great value to his style of work. His death impacted & influenced his students from FTII, Pune to explore brilliance in Cinema. I feel this particular film will be interesting to know this man better in his favorite medium of expression.

P.S.: I am also glad that I am right now in his birthplace i.e. ‘Dhaka’

Sound(Shabdo) a film by Kaushik Ganguly

Last friday, I watched ‘Shabdo’(Sound) the National Award winner for best bengali film in 2013. It has a very interesting story & plot, the film is about a foley artist’s passion turning into obsession. The obsession of sound goes to such an extent that he starts hearing only ambience sound and no voices. No doubt that the film has some good work on sound but I also liked the direction and acting of the main protagonist. Its a great tribute to Cinema and people behind the scenes.
